Young people at Somerford Grove Adventure Playground (SGAP) wanted a more challenging and exciting play feature that encouraged risk-taking in a safe and controlled environment. They designed and built a drop slide; a slide that starts with a near-vertical drop before levelling out.

Through design workshops a dragon form was chosen, which informed both the decoration and colour scheme of the slide. Build Up staff carefully detailed the structure to ensure that it was safe whilst feeling risky, as well as robust enough to handle years of use. 

The slide now functions as a new centrepiece of the playground, and was built with substantial involvement from young people that have a longstanding relationship with the playground.
