In Autum 2023 we returned to Custom House to plant a new community orchard, fruit bushes and spring flowing bulbs on a piece of land adjacent to the new picnic tables and around the new picnic tables that Build Up designed and built with young people over the summer.

The aim of the project was to create a community garden feel for the area, and improve the area around the picnic tables in general.

It was important to the young people to make sure the space that is very close to many of their homes remains well taken care of. The community garden enabled them to expand upon the hard work they’d already done and involve them in taking care of the space longer term.
