Build Up worked with young people from the Hughes Field Estate to transform a neglected piece of ground outside their homes into a new community garden space.

The young people wanted somewhere they could play, hang out and spend time outside. The final design included a very large picnic table for families to sit at, a planter with herbs for cooking, a place for a barbecue to sit safely on gravel, a new four square on the tarmac for games, and a woodland play area under a large tree.

The young people built their design over the summer. The space has been named The Peace Garden and has since been used regularly by community members of all ages.
